The Greek Economy: Focus on the Future
Xafa voiced her belief that the privatization of state-run companies and the gradual introduction of free market policies are indispensable tools to improve the competitiveness of the Greek economy, and said that any attempts to reverse such a policy, which had been pursued by the New Democracy government between 1990 and 1993, would have detrimental results for the economy's competitiveness and its potential to converge with the rest of the European Union economies. Outlining the economic policies initiated by the former government, she said they would play a crucial role in upgrading mthe country's economic competitiveness.
